![]() ![]() He did not once try to get us to eat in the hotel, as a previous comment suggested. He advised on places nearby we might want to visit to get the most from our stay and happily made our restaurant bookings for us. The hotel owner was very friendly and helpful right from arriving. We respect that and it was not a problem for us-kids played in the pool every day and it didn't detract from their fun but thought it worth mentioning. Children are made very welcome in this hotel but there is an expectation that they do not shatter the peace for other guests as this hotel does have the Relais du Silence status. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious with a wide range of foods and fresh coffee. ![]() Wifi not very strong, struggled anywhere other than room, but it's quite nice to be disconnected for a few days. We stayed in a large family room (family of 4) which was typically French in its decor. Our French is woeful! We thank Micheal and staff for a welcoming stay and relaxing break. This is not in small part to Micheal who helped us with everything, reservations, suggestions and advice. It's peace and beauty was the perfect base for a Dordogne adventure. However, all in all we loved the place and it suited us. These are only comments applicable to the price of the Hotel, we could have expected more. Nicely between Sarlat (the main historic town), Les Eyzies (The centre of pre-history) and Saint Cyprien on the Dordorgne. The wifi is poor (good or bad? we did get our children back!) The Location, with a car, was perfect. Bearing in mind the temperature was in the 30's. The pool was extremely cold and kept us out of it, except for the youngest but even she felt the cold. The breakfast had no hot food except toast and 14 Euros even for the children for the four of us over 10 days was a little smart! There appears to be no alternative as the Hotel is so far away from anywhere to offer the same. This means you have to leave the Hotel in the day. As a hotel, there was no bar, no lunch and the evening meal was a set menu. Some comments which you can take as part of the character or not we stayed above the dining room (Romantic Room) and the stairs are tricky. The room was lovely, in the rafters of the converted attic. The views are spectacular, overlooking the rolling fields and woods encircled by buzzards up high and house martins down low. The coffee was always looked forward to and our girls of 12 and 16 loved the early morning hot chocolate. We stayed for 10 days and grew fond of everyone and even began to understand Micheal's humour! The breakfasts were perfect for the location very healthy, nothing hot. The Hotel was beautiful and serine, clean and well laid out. We will take away great memories from this holiday. ![]()
